Monthly highlight of the activities of Phakchok Rinpoche and the global community of Samye Institute.

This month, as a global sangha of 53 countries, we auspiciously completed the seventh of The Tsok Bum series: Pema Khandro (Kurukulle) on January 23rd (the twelfth Guru Rinpoche Day).
In the Sangha’s News and Activities, you will find two special messages from Phakchok Rinpoche: the first one is for the 49th Day of the Memorial Puja of Kyabje Tsikey Chokling Rinpoche; the second one is about the celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Kyabje Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche. Both of them are now available on the Samye website.
To celebrate Chinese New Year, the Malaysian sangha is organizing pujas at the Guru Rinpoche Lhakang. These include Vajrakilaya and Sampa Lhündrup prayers to magnetize positive causes and conditions for the year. All pujas and prayer sessions are available online via Zoom. Please scroll down to the section below for further information.
We also have a special announcement about three upcoming global online pujas which will happen in the first month of the Tibetan calendar year, during Bumgyur Dawa, the month of miracles and multiplied merit. On February 22nd, the first Guru Rinpoche Day of the new Tibetan year of the Iron Ox, Samye will host the 8th and final global online tsok bum gathering – the Tsa Sum (Three Roots) Tsok Bum. On February 26th, Samye will host a global online Lama Norlha Puja. Finally, on February 27th, Chötrul Düchen, Samye will host a global online Riwo Sangchö practice. More information about these global online gatherings can be found in the Samye events calendar or at the bottom of this digest. On New Moon day, we will share the registration information in an announcement for all three gatherings.
Furthermore, in the digest below, you will find exciting updates on the new publications of Lhasey Lotsawa. And a new weekly program “Bliss Is Your Superpower” led by Erric Solomon. The program will be available both online and onsite at Gomde Austria Germany.
On February 3, 2021, the Samye team requested Three Prayers to Remove Obstacles & Gather Positive Conditions (Including two Prayers to Guru Rinpoche: Clearing the Obstacles of the Path (Barchey Lamsel) and Spontaneous Fulfillment of Wishes (Sampa Lhündrub) as well as the Praises to 21 Taras) via Monlam.org with the following dedication: “May the patrons of Samye Institute, and the whole world, be free of all disease and hardship. May all beings, in all realms, be happy, healthy, and safe!”

Recent Events
Within the past few days, in Nepal and around the world, we have engaged in practice and aspirations in relation to the parinirvana of Kyabje Tsikey Chokling Rinpoche and the parinirvana anniversary of Kyabje Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche. Phakchok Rinpoche has shared two messages with regards to these special days. You will find these messages on the home page of the Samye website. At the conclusion of his message in honor Kyabje Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, Phakchok Rinpoche shared two biographies of Rinpoche:
“To Nourish Faith: A Brief Account of the Wisdom Deeds of Our Root Guru, the Omnipresent Sovereign Tulku Urgyen Rinpoché”
by Kyapjé Chökyi Nyima Rinpoché
“An Account of the Life of Tulku Urgyen Rinpoché.” by Tsiké Chokling Mingyur Dewé Dorjé Rinpoché. Extracted from “The Great Tertön: The Life and Activities of Chokgyur Lingpa”
At the end of his letter regarding his late father, Kyabje Tsikey Chokling Rinpoche, Phakchok Rinpoche said these words, “Three weeks after the passing of Chokgyur Lingpa, the great revealer, the great Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo saw in a vision, on a full moon day, that a new pure land, the Lotus-Covered Realm, arose beside Amitabha’s pure land. And, that a bodhisattva named Lotus Essence, a manifestation of the great revealer Chokgyur Lingpa, appeared there to benefit beings. This pure vision treasure is called Kusum Rigdu, Essence of Three Kayas. The Chokling Dakhu enclosed with bountiful precious blessings was offered to the sangha of Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling on the Full Moon day of January 28th upon the completion of the three day puja of the Kusum Rigdu in the presence of the Kudung of H.E. Kyabje Tsikey Chokling Rinpoche.
All these auspicious coincidences show that the blessings continue, the activities continue, and the propagation of Mahaguru’s activity through Chokling Tersar continually flourish just like an unceasing river during the rainy season.
“May you all have good health and long lives, and be able to carry out your spiritual aspirations. May your experience and realization blaze forth, and may your minds be indivisible from Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche. This is the wish I have made in front of the precious Kudung.”
And just as my Father Rinpoche made these aspirations in front of his Father, Kyabje Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche’s Kudung, I too here stand through the passing of time witnessing the impermanent nature of all phenomena, in the presence of my dear Father Rinpoche’s precious Kudung making the same aspirations so genuinely laid out by my father, Kyabje Tsikey Chokling Mingyur Dewey Dorje.”
In the photos below, you will see the Dakhu of Chokgyur Lingpa. Additionally, you will see the Tsechu Guru Rinpoche statue. In his message, Rinpoche said this about the statue, “Now, in celebration of the anniversary of 100 years since Rinpoche’s birth, we were very fortunate to find the original mold which Kyabje Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche used. And with the help of our monks, we auspiciously replicated the statue of Guru Rinpoche into 1000-fold, consecrated them with great blessings, and offered them to the sangha of Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling on the final day of the Kusum Rigdu puja (Essence of Three Kayas) on the Full Moon day of January 28th.”

On this final Dakini Day of the Tibetan lunar year, auspiciously coinciding with the 100th anniversary of Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, Lhasey Lotsawa is happy to share the following translations:
A brief account of the wisdom deeds of Kyapjé Tulku Urgyen Rinpoché (1920–1996) freely spoken by Kyapjé Chökyi Nyima Rinpoché upon the repeated request by the khenpos, tulkus, vajra masters, and senior monks of our own monastery, Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling, as well as by disciples at Nagi Gompa, Asura Cave retreat center, and our other Dharma centers.
An aspiration for the swift rebirth of Kyapjé Tsikey Chokling Rinpoche composed by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
An aspiration for rebirth in Zangdok Palri, the Copper-Colored Mountain, composed by Khandro Yeshé Tsogyal in the forest charnel ground of Samyé Chimpu.
This new edition to our library, Sangtik Phurpa, the profound yidam practice of the deity Vajrakilāya, revealed by Chokgyur Dechen Lingpa, is thanks in large part to the translation work of Rangjung Yeshe Publications.
We hope these translations will be of great benefit to your practice and all beings. May it be auspicious!
Global Magnetizing Accumulation
Rinpoche has requested that all of his students, and all who are inspired to do so, recite the Giant Cloud of Blessings, or Wang Dü magnetizing supplication as part of their daily practice. This supplication, composed by Ju Mipham Rinpoche, brings enormous benefit, especially during these times.
Remember, you can now track year-to-date totals of the Six Vajra Lines Supplication and the Giant Cloud of Blessings Magnetizing Prayer in addition to the grand totals. The yearly accumulator will be reset annually on Losar.
