Monthly highlight of the activities of Phakchok Rinpoche and the global community of Samye Institute.

This month, as a global sangha, we joyfully completed the practice of Guru Dorjé Draktsel Tsok Bum, fourth in the series of seven 100,000 ganachakra feast offering (or: tsok bum) outlined by Phakchok Rinpoche. Details about it are included in the digest below.
On the auspicious day of Lhabab Duchen (November 7th), the monks of our Vajra Varahi Monastery in Chapagaon completed accumulating 150 repetitions of the Ngensong Dongdruk puja, the Avalokiteshvara practice of the Tukdrup Barché Kunsel cycle. One week prior to this, our monks completed two days of fasting and practice during the Nyungé fasting retreat.
This year’s final annual puja at the Vajra Varahi gompa, the White Umbrella—Sitatapatra or Dukkarmo—Torma Exorcism, will take place on December 8th to10th, 2020 – concluding on the Dakini Day of the 10th month of the Tibetan calendar. Then, on November 24th, we will be hosting the fifth global online Tsok Bum. The details about both can be found below.
This evening at 5:45pm Nepal time, as part of our monthly Senior Lama Teaching Series on Dakini Day, Tulku Migmar will teach on the Eight Worldly Concerns to the global sangha via Zoom. Simultaneous oral translation will be available in many languages. Next month, Lama Sonam Tsering will continue teaching us on the topic of Personal Retreat. Please scroll through Samye Events to find more details.
In the Footsteps of Bodhisattvas has been officially released. Within the next months, Samye Institute will be launching a course to supplement the study and practice of the text. Below you will find a link to Jack’s recent Samye blog post entitled “On Forgetting” which draws from teachings in Rinpoche’s new book.
Following Phakchok Rinpoche’s guidance to be kind and helpful, along with his call for compassionate action in Dharma Stream teachings, the Rangjung Yeshe Malaysia sangha and the Dharma Stream sangha in China organized various meaningful charity activities to supply essential foods to those in need.
On November 3rd, we requested the Sādhana of Bhagavatī Parṇaśavari with mantra recitation via Monlam.org with the following dedication:May the benefactors of Samye Institute, and the whole world, be free of all disease and hardship. May all beings be happy, healthy, and safe! ”

Radically Happy Updates: Seminars at Gomde Germany-Austria
Please enjoy the following update from Rangjung Yeshe Gomde Germany-Austria: On the last two weekends of October, Erric Solomon bravely ventured out of isolation to help our sangha further develop skills to become radically happy and blissfully aware. This said, we now know, it’s not a skill or a trick–it’s our basic nature!
Over the course of two 4-day seminars, Erric, with wit, kindness and his sharp intellect helped us to uncover this superpower–blissful awareness–that is actually so ordinary and accessible. Erric did not hold back from the difficult questions on emptiness or Guru devotion and his answers were clear and easy to understand, resulting in a meaningful and personal experience for each student.
Charitable offerings from our sangha in Malaysia and China
Following Phakchok Rinpoche’s guidance to help those in need in these challenging times, along with his call for compassionate action in Dharma Stream teachings, delivery of essential food stuff was made on October 2nd and November 7th (Lhabab Duchen) by our Rangjung Yeshe Malaysia sangha. Charitable offerings were given to 50 families of the Chin Refugee community, and to 100 families of the many remote village areas in Sabah.
Similarly, our Dharma Stream sangha in China has continued charitable offerings for families in need in Nepal. Recently, food relief packages were given to over 110 families living in a remote area. Below are two photo collages of the food relief distributed in Malaysia and Nepal, respectively.

Damaru (Hand drum)
The damaru (or small hand drum) is used widely in Tibetan Buddhism, in particular for Inner Tantric practices. In essence, it is the nature of wisdom and functions to magnetize the mamos (wrathful female deities) and dakinis to enhance your practice. Our authentic damarus have special mantras for the dakas and dakinis written on the inside wooden base, written by the monks from Ka-Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery.

Lhasey Lotsawa Translations & Publications
We are excited to share with you the following new translations our dedicated team has been working on this past month:
New Publications:
This concise biography of the eighth-century master from Uḍḍīyana, Guru Padmasambhava, was revealed in 1856 by the great treasure-revealer Chokgyur Lingpa as part of the Sevenfold Cycle of Profundity (zab pa skor bdun). The text consists of ten short chapters, each relating to a different aspect of the master’s life and activities.
This practice set combines the Guru Dorjé Draktsel Sadhana with brief supplications, dedications and aspirations, and “Cloudbanks of the Two Accumulations,” the gathering offering liturgy that includes the Six Vajra Lines. It was especially compiled under Kyapgön Phakchok Rinpoche’s guidance for the auspicious occasion of 100,000 feast offerings held at Asura Cave in Pharphing, Nepal.
This special life-release practice was arranged according to the practices for the dharmakāya guru, Amitāyus of the Guru’s Heart Practice, Dispeller of All Obstacles.
A short practice of the lion-faced ḍākinī Siṃhamukhā (seng gdong ma) associated with the elimination of adversity, threats and dangers.
We hope these translations will be of great benefit to your practice and all beings. May it be auspicious!
Global Magnetizing Accumulation
Rinpoche has requested that all of his students, and all who are inspired to do so, recite the Giant Cloud of Blessings, or Wang Dü magnetizing supplication as part of their daily practice. This supplication, composed by Ju Mipham Rinpoche, brings enormous benefit, especially during these times.
Remember, you can now track year-to-date totals of the Six Vajra Lines Supplication and the Giant Cloud of Blessings Magnetizing Prayer in addition to the grand totals. The yearly accumulator will be reset annually on Losar.
